Be a part of the Op-Med team

Listed below are the currently available roles within the Op-Med team.

These are all voluntary roles, however the time commitment is flexible to fit around your schedule. This will be a valuable experience in creating medical educational content in a supportive team and contributing to an emerging online medical journal. These leadership positions can be tailored to the needs of your medical portfolio and can also contribute towards application points for specialty training in the form of QI projects, posters and presentations. 

Social Media Officer

This will be part of a new social media team which will run social media accounts promoting articles on Op-Med, the latest podcast episodes, collaboration opportunities, recruitment for new roles, and writing competitions. You will be designing innovative strategies to increase visibility of the journal to medical students and resident doctors. There is scope within the role to collaborate with the editorial board on the design and promotion of the newsletter. 

Ideally candidates should have prior experience in the use of Instagram, X and TikTok as well as knowledge of medical educational content. You will have access to a Canva Pro account to generate social media content. 
 
Podcast Team Member
 
This role is part of a new podcast team which will create short podcasts themed on topics inspired by articles published on the Op-Med site. This should include interviews with experts/researchers on the topic, and will require relevant background reading for preparation. The role includes preparation, execution and editing of the podcasts, and collaboration with the social media team for podcast promotion. 
 
Ideally candidates should have prior experience running interviews or podcasts or other forms of medical journalism.
